MASONIC AUTHORS’ GUILD INTERNATION (MAGI)

Together with Mark A. Tabbert who was curator of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial until his recent retire we created the Masonic Authors’ Guild International (MAGI).

(MAGI) reviews books and other productions focused on Freemasonry in the form of podcasts. Our mission is to promote the highest professional and academic standards in Masonic research and education. Season consisted of 20 episodes most of which are reviews of books about Freemasonry. We also devoted several episodes covering more general subject such ‘How to write about the past’ and ‘What’s the difference between fact and opinion.’

Season two is well advanced and contains more book reviews but also introduces some guest speakers so that you don’t fed up hearing my voice (or Mark’s) all the time!

MAGI has a Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/masonicauthorsguildinternational

The podcasts are available on the Patreon platform and can be listed to or downloaded by clicking on this link: https://www.patreon.com/MAGIAcademics/posts

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

I have recently returned from a lecture tour of Australia and New Zealand where I gave nineteen, yes 19, different presentations. I feel a wee bit pround of that given the amount of travel involved.

I shall try to upload some images soon – once I work out how to do that….

POST-RETIREMENT

As some of you will already know I am due to retire on 31 December 2021. This is 27 years, 6 months, 18 days of service to the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

Retirement is a big decision in any one’s life but decision was a rational one (honest!) I could have retired in 2012 but stayed on as there were interesting events taking place at that time. In addition the the new Grand Secretary (as of September 2020) was a friend of some years and I hung on in case I was needed.

All that said I decided that it was time to move on and have several invitations to give presentations in various countries. Because of Covid-19 many have been postponed so it looks like 2022 is going to be very busy retired or not!
